"Internet Explorer has Stopped Working" and "Microsoft Office Help Viewer has stopped working"
I'm running Windows 7 with IE8.
I don't use IE much but recently noticed that it will no longer work.
I start it up and it immediately crashes and gives the above error.
I can start it with add-ons disabled and it will stay open for about 10 seconds and then give the error, or
immediately if I try to go to a website.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still get the same answer.
I also just noticed that the Help viewer in Microsoft office gives me the above error if I click on it, immediately.
I have Office 2010 beta installed and 2007.
It will give the error in both versions.
I have tried restoring it to an earlier
point but still have the same problems.
Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated!

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Try the clean boot troubleshooting technique & see if the behavior persists.
If still no joy, there is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a hijackware infection!
NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows Update, don't waste your time
with any of the below: Format & reinstall Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.
